It’s NFL Playoff time…

This season we've teamed up with Nat Coombs as the official partner of The Nat Coombs Show. It's NFL Playoff time & who better to ask than Nat on what to expect...

Hi Gang,

Nat here - take a read to find out my inside track on the teams that have made the NFL Playoffs ahead of Super Bowl 2025!

The Nat Coombs Show

Detroit Lions

It's testament to the calibre of Dan Campbell and his staff that the Lions roll into the playoffs as the #1 seed despite all the injuries they've had to deal with. But things are looking up on that front. RB David Montgomery should return vs Washington to re-up the one-two punch with the excellent Jahmyr Gibbs. And that's bad news for the Commanders who struggle against the run.

LA Rams

Their emotional win over the Vikings will be remembered as a playoff classic given the context. And this a team that's fearless, carries momentum & the LA Defense - fronted by the brilliant rookie Jared Verse - could cause real problems for the Eagles. Particularly the Philly passing game, which still isn't fluent, despite the talent on show.

Washington

Jayden Daniels has had a sensational rookie season, applying poise and maturity in his decision making,  that is unusual for such a young player. Throw in extraordinary athletic ability and the calmest temperament going, not to mention his penchant to wild comebacks and last-minute wins, and the Commanders will always feel they have a shot with him under centre. Even if they're outside shots in the playoffs.

Philly

The glass half full perspective is that the Eagles have the most talented roster in the NFL with a formidable defense, superb offensive line, one of the best running backs in the game, superstar receivers and a Top 10 QB. Frankly, they should be rolling to the Super Bowl. But.....this is Philly! Dysfunction typically reigns, the passing game does not look convincing, and star WR AJ Brown is reading self help books, rather than playbooks, on the sideline! Boom or bust time for the Eagles for sure!

Kansas City

The Chiefs are three wins away from the threepeat, are rested, have home-field advantage through the playoffs as the #1 seed, and are peppered with clutch playmakers including the vet Travis Kelce, whose time has clearly been managed carefully this season, for deep water, clutch playoff moments like this.

Buffalo Bills

It's been a remarkable season for Josh Allen, who is down to the wire for MVP. All the more impressive when considering that much of the pre-season hype indicated a big drop off for this Bills offense with the loss of Stefon Diggs. Allen has been ably supported by the excellent RB James Cook leading the ground game, and a supporting cast of receivers all stepping up and delivering as group. Particularly rookie Keon Coleman, a physical, big play threat and the sneaky underrated Khalil Shakir.

Houston Texans

CJ Stroud is the headline grabber, and deservedly so despite a drop off this year after his rookie season for the ages, but this team, and its chances, rest on the success of their Defense, which features some top tier playmaking talent. Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter up front can wreak havoc, and All-Pro corner Derek Stingley Jr leads a secondary that looked mightily impressive for much of the season, particularly in the Wild Card round.

Baltimore Ravens

How do you improve one of the most fearsome ground games in the business? How about adding one of the greatest running backs of his generation, who is still very much in fifth gear. Talk that Derrick Henry would drop off this year, his first in Baltimore, will go down as one of the coldest takes of the season, and his tandem with MVP candidate, the dual threat QB Lamar Jackson, is mind blowing. Opposing defenses know what's coming, but they just can't stop it, mostly. Critics may shoot down Jackson's mixed playoff record, but it's all noise. He's a generational talent, and sooner or later, will have the ring to underscore his achievements.

So now you've heard from me, it's over to you to put your money on who you think's going to make the final. It's  tough one but I think the Chiefs are probably the safe play - the Rams worth a flyer!

Now, get yourself down to Hickory's for all the action and a bucket of Wings!
