For the past 7 years, you’ve supported us through every brisket being smoked, cocktail shaken & celebration shared. From family feasts, date nights, birthdays, graduations & “just because” BBQ nights, we’ve loved being part of your stories. And honestly, we couldn’t have done it without you.

After seven incredible years of smokin’ authentic BBQ and servin’ up Southern hospitality, the time has come to give Hickory’s Poynton a little tender loving care with a full restaurant refresh.

Now, it’s time to give our smokers a well-earned rest & our Smokehouse a little tender loving care. Hickory’s Poynton will close for a refresh from Monday 5th October and we’ll be reopening from 12pm on Wednesday 21st October.

Whether you’re a Poynton regular, haven’t been for a while, or are still to try us out, let us tell you a bit about the place...

We take our inspiration from the places we’ve been to, with lots of quirky touches and Southern-inspired design ideas to create a place for everyone to enjoy. The whole family has been thought of at Hickory’s Poynton. And while we’ll always stay true to the laid-back Hickory’s feel you know & love, we’re making some exciting changes across the restaurant to make your experience even better.

Our commitment to creating a welcoming place for locals remains the same now as it did when we first opened. We’ll be making some changes to the restaurant to create a warm, welcoming & authentic space – think new seating, with more cosy booths, perfect for date nights & catchups with friends & family.

For our regulars & anyone looking for a welcoming neighbourhood spot to unwind, we’re giving the bar a fresh new feel. Expect a private, more inviting space, with comfy seating. Perfect for settling in over a pint of Hickory’s Pale Ale, your favourite cocktail, or a mocktail if that’s more your thing. And if you’re here for the sports, we’re adding more screens, so you won’t miss a moment of the action.

You spoke & we listened... we’ve added even more cosy booths throughout the restaurant, creating the perfect spaces to settle in and stay awhile.

Whether it’s family catchups over smokin’ BBQ, nights with cocktails flowing or celebrations with your favourite people, the new booths are designed to make every visit feel even more relaxed and welcoming.

Think comfy seating, warm Southern-style surroundings and the kind of laid-back atmosphere that turns a quick meal into an evening well spent.

For BBQ fans our Chef’s Bar has been a big favourite since we first swung open the doors. It’s always been the best seat in the house! Think comfy stools with a view of our slow smoked Texas-style brisket & exclusive tips from our chefs.

Settlin’ in for date night? We’re adding more tables for two giving you the perfect spot to relax & tuck in in style.

Authentic BBQ, Always

While the restaurant may have had a refresh, one thing that will never change is our commitment to authentic barbecue.

Our Southern Pride smokers were shipped all the way from Tennessee and still take pride of place in the restaurant. They’ve been smokin’ low ‘n’ slow non-stop for the past seven years, turning out Texas-style brisket, Memphis ribs, Smoked Wings and all your Hickory’s favourites.

Great BBQ is about more than just the smokers. It’s our pitmasters - trained in the art of barbecue - whose passion, patience & skill make every dish what it is. Around here, we always say: “Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear aprons.”

And our pitmasters really are the heroes behind the smoke. When you visit, be sure to ask Pitmaster Mike for a tour of the smoker room and get acquainted with Poynton’s very own smokers!

But, now the time has come for them to take a well deserved rest...

Celebrating Seven Smokin’ Years

We’ve loved every minute of our seven years in Poynton.

Over the years, we’ve built amazing friendships with local schools, sports clubs and organisations including NECCC, Poynton Lacrosse, Crimson Heat, Hazel Grove FC & Stockport Sentinel, the support from our local community has meant the world to us.

And of course, none of it would be possible without our incredible team.

From our General Manager, Jake, to long-standing legends including Jack, Will, Beckii, Kenyon, Orla, Connor, Laura, Charlie, Finn & Mark. Thank you for bringing the warmth, energy & hospitality that make Hickory’s special every single day.
