A Massive Thank You…

To all our neighbours on the River Dee & the good people of Chester - a massive thank you for supporting us for the past 15 years. And what a 15 years we’ve had! We’ve proudly been smokin’ authentic BBQ, shakin’ cocktails & meeting so many wonderful guests. We have loved every minute & couldn’t have done it without you. We can't wait to welcome you in to your all new Hickory's Chester!

A Welcoming Place…

Hickory's was born from a road trip over 15 years ago, when Neil our founder embarked on a fairly haphazard road trip across the Southern States. He fell in love with the passion for food, drinks and unbridled hospitality and knew he had to share what he had discovered. With love, passion and enthusiasm for all things BBQ, Hickory's was born in Chester. Our commitment to creating a welcoming place for locals remains the same now as it did all those years ago.

We take our inspiration from the places we’ve been to, with lots of quirky touches and Southern inspired design ideas, to create a place for everyone to enjoy. Your all new Hickory’s Chester's still got the same feel & laid-back vibes, but with some incredible new additions.

For BBQ Fans…

Authenticity is absolutely key for us and that starts with our smokers. Anything good is worth waiting for, right? Our smokers were shipped from the Southern States. They’ve been in pride of place in our smoker room since we first opened. Our ‘Ole Hickory’ Smokers came from Missouri & every measure was taken to make sure they felt at home, they’re the first thing you see as you turn round the corner and nothing beats the sweet barbecue aroma that hits you too.

If you're a fan of all things BBQ say hello to our Pitmaster John when you're in and ask for a seat at the Chefs Bar.  It's been a big favourite since we first swung open the doors - so we've made it bigger and better. It’s quite possibly the best seat in the house with a view of our slow smoked Texas style brisket. Our chefs might even lift the lid on a few pitmaster secrets.

Home On The River…

There's no place better than down by the River Dee and we've made some great friends with Chester Boat, City Sightseeing bus tours, The Grosvenor Rowing Club and more. From our front door we've loved river life. We've watched many a marathon & Santa Dash run past our door too. We've watched the Mark Twain & Lady Diana set sail,  enjoyed seeing the rowers in action and we've even paddled down the Dee on a raft a couple of times. So, we had to make the most of this stunning location.

You can still enjoy river views from the veranda but this space has been refreshed to create a more welcoming spot to dine. (We’ve kept this space dog-friendly too for our 4-legged guests). But the big news is that we've created the River Room. This new extension is on the river front where the Walled Garden used to be. Taking in views of the river it's complete with glass sides and a retractable roof for when the sun shines.

And, you’re still welcome to join us outside, we've kept the seating by the entrance and we’ve added some tables to a new small & secluded garden area behind the River Room.

All The Family…

The main restaurant area has most definitely served up lots of smokin’ BBQ & welcomed countless guests, so it’s had a refresh - new seating & flooring, and a more accessible space for groups & families to enjoy. Your Hickory's Chester couldn't have a refurb without looking after our younger guests. We’ve built a new cinema room  - think a bigger space with lots of comfy cinema seats. So the kids can enjoy a movie & some popcorn whilst you sit back & relax.
